What we monitor, country by country.
Ownership and director monitoring is available in one country: the United Kingdom, where Companies House publishes a filed change history for persons with significant control and for officers. Status, insolvency, address and sanctions monitoring is available in every country marked below. In Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany ownership is legally restricted rather than missing, following the 2022 EU Court of Justice ruling. In the remaining countries the register does not publish owners in a form a monitoring service can read. The Netherlands and Germany are not covered at all yet. We would rather lose the sale than let you find this out afterwards.
This page exists because coverage claims are the easiest thing in this market to fudge. Ours is a table, and the empty cells are explained underneath it.
Four countries where the register gives us more than a name.
Every country in the table gets identity, status, insolvency, address and sanctions. These four give us enough for a customer file that stands on its own, and they differ from each other in ways worth knowing before you buy.
United Kingdom
- Beneficial owners from the Companies House PSC register, with the ownership band the register actually publishes
- The ownership structure through parent companies, followed layer by layer to the people at the top — and where it stops, the reason it stopped
- Directors and officers
- Filed change history, so an ownership or director change is a dated filing you can open
- The only country where we can compare what your client tells you against the register
Norway
- Every registered role with date of birth and whether the person has resigned, including the company’s own auditor
- Bankruptcy, liquidation and compulsory dissolution as explicit dated fields, not something inferred
- Role changes from the registry’s update feed
- Beneficial owners are not public in Norway. We say so in the note rather than leaving a gap
France
- Company officers and legal representatives from the national business register
- A dated history covering name, status, legal form and activity across the whole life of the company
- Statutory auditors identified separately from management
- Beneficial owners are restricted to approved accounts. We say so in the note
Denmark
- Identity from the official register, with the source and the date it was read
- A dated history of name, address, industry and legal form
- Status changes are caught by re-reading the register, because the Danish filing history does not carry them
- A director or shareholder joining or leaving is alerted with the date the register gives, so your file shows you knew before the supervisor asks
- The ownership chain is followed through holding companies by CVR number, and the note says where it stops and why
- Beneficial owners were screened off in September 2025. The note says so, and says what you must verify instead
Beneficial ownership registers across the EU closed to services like ours between 2022 and 2025, following the Court of Justice ruling on public access. That is why the United Kingdom is the one country where we can do the ownership work for you. Everywhere else the note records that ownership could not be established from the register and that it must be verified from documents, which is what the rules require in that situation. It is not a gap we can engineer around, and we would rather write it down than let you assume otherwise.

Sanctions and PEP screening is list-based, not registry-based, and therefore works for a company in any country.
Why some cells are empty.
Ownership in Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany
In November 2022 the Court of Justice of the European Union invalidated the provision that made beneficial ownership registers open to the general public. Member states responded by closing their registers to everyone except obliged entities under anti-money-laundering law, competent authorities, and parties who can demonstrate a specific legitimate interest — assessed case by case.
A monitoring service is not in any of those categories. We cannot obtain ownership data in the Netherlands or Germany at any price, and Ireland’s register is not reachable programmatically. This is worth being precise about: it is not a gap in our product that a competitor has closed. Any vendor offering you continuous UBO alerts in those three countries is either using stale data or is not describing accurately what they do.
There is no substitute we can honestly sell you here. Director changes do tend to show up before ownership changes do, but outside the United Kingdom and Denmark we cannot alert you to those either — the registers do not publish a change history for them. What we can do in France and Norway is fetch the current board on request, so a due diligence note names the people in charge on the day it is written. That is a periodic check you run, not an alarm that reaches you.
The Netherlands and Germany generally
Neither country is covered yet, and we would rather say so than list them and serve you something thin. The Dutch chamber of commerce charges per lookup and per subscription, and doing it properly means subscribing to their change service rather than polling — that work is scoped but not built. Germany has no official company-register API at all: the public interface forbids reuse of the data, and the open dataset that circulates as an alternative was last updated in February 2019. We monitor German entities only where they carry an LEI, which is a small subset of German companies.
Snapshot versus filed change
One country publishes a filed change history we can read: the United Kingdom. There, an alert names the change and links to the filing behind it, for owners and for directors alike. Elsewhere we compare periodic copies of the registry record, which reliably catches a change of name, status, address, industry or legal form — the fields the register republishes. Denmark is the exception: there we also compare who serves on the board and who holds the shares, so a director or shareholder joining or leaving reaches you with the date the register gives. Elsewhere it does not catch a change of director or owner, because those registers do not republish those fields in a form we can compare. Where we can still fetch the current board on request, the table says Lookup only. It is a weaker promise than an alert, and we would rather write it down than let you assume otherwise.
Questions about coverage.
Can you monitor UBO changes in Ireland?
No. Ireland’s Register of Beneficial Ownership is not available programmatically, so no monitoring service can watch it for you. Irish coverage is status, insolvency, address and sanctions. Not directors either: outside the United Kingdom no register we cover publishes a director change history we can read.
Can you monitor beneficial ownership in the Netherlands or Germany?
No, and neither can anyone else in our position. Since the 2022 EU Court of Justice ruling, both registers are restricted to obliged entities, authorities and applicants with a demonstrated legitimate interest assessed case by case. It is a legal restriction, not a pricing question.
Why is Germany only covered for LEI-registered entities?
Germany has no official company-register API. The public interface prohibits reuse of the data, and the open dataset often suggested as an alternative was last updated in February 2019. We would rather cover the subset we can verify — entities carrying a Legal Entity Identifier — than serve you stale data as though it were current.
What is the difference between “Available” and “Snapshot”?
Available means the country publishes a filed change history, so an alert names the change and links to the filing behind it. Snapshot means we compare periodic copies of the record: we can tell you the data differs from last time, but not which filing caused it. Lookup only means we can retrieve the data when you ask, but the register gives us no way to notice that it changed — so it belongs in a due diligence note, not in an alert.
Does sanctions screening work for every country?
Yes. Sanctions and PEP screening matches against published lists rather than a national register, so it works for a company anywhere — including the countries where registry monitoring is unavailable.
Will you add the countries that are missing?
The Netherlands is the one we are actively costing. Germany is blocked on there being no lawful, current source to buy. Ownership in Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany is blocked by law and will not change unless the law does. If a country matters to you, tell us — it affects what we build next.
